Overview of Curriculum Mapping
Updated onArticleComprehensive Curriculum Mapping is a cornerstone of Leo. Our System's in-depth tracking of Goals, Objectives, and Core Competencies means you can align directly with your accreditation requirements to document what was taught, when and where it was taught, as well as how it was assessed.
Goals and Objectives (G&O) are used to tag elements of the curriculum so they can be analyzed, quantified, and audited. By building in the use of G&O's and Core Competencies at a very granular level, Leo allows Faculty and accreditation personnel to track exactly where G&O's are taught and assessed.
In Leo, you define a version of G&O and assign that version to an Academic Year. Multiple competency sets can also be mapped to a single version of Goals and Objectives. Subsequently, all Courses, Events, Exams, Materials, etc., within that Academic Year refer back to that version of G&O.
At the Course Level, Course Directors can then select a subset of the Program Objectives to present to their Faculty for tagging Courses, Events and related materials. This gives you a common taxonomy with one pool of consistent and validated program objectives that links to all curricular elements. This is essential for the most accurate mapping of your curriculum.
At the Event Level, an Instructor can create customized Session Objectives, which can then be linked back to the Program Objectives. Leo also allows tagging of Exam questions so that a Student’s mastery of a given category can be Examined. Outcomes can also be identified and tagged as objectives, and this data can then be used to create a feedback loop for continuous improvement.
