Understanding Evaluation Logic Options

Branching and Skip Logic is the term we use to describe an evaluation setup where questions are hidden/unhidden based on the Evaluator's response to a previous question.

In an evaluation that uses Branching logic:

  • Questions appear only if certain answers were picked for the previous question.
  • When the student selects a specific answer to that question, they will be redirected to another page to complete the remaining required questions.

In an evaluation that uses Skip logic:

  • Questions appear only if certain answers were picked for the previous question.
  • When the student selects a specific answer to that question, all other questions will be disabled.

Branching Logic - Page Link

  1. Select the Questions Tab
  2. Click the Question Prompt you would like to contain branching logic (this is the question, if answered a certain way, would direct (or branch) the student to another question).
  3. Click the specific Response Choice you would like to cause branching (this response, if selected by the Student/Evaluator, will cause them to be directed to another question not in sequence).
  4. Use the Page Link field to select the page you would like this response to direct to (use the drop-down menu of options).
  5. Click Save Response to save and exit.

NOTE: You may choose multiple responses for causing branching, go through the same steps for each response choice.

  1. Use the Question Link field to select the question you would like this response to skip to or direct the User to a different question (double-click the box to display a drop-down menu of options).
  2. Click Save Response and exit.
